JP SUCKS lollipop boutique supports local honey harvest and local businesses
JP Sucks is a new Jamaica Plain based lollipop company that focuses on supporting local businesses.
“The irony of it all is the name of the company,” says JP Sucks co-founder Joe Douillette. “We are in love with Jamaica Plain. We just thought it needed some better, locally made candy!”
The lollipops are handmade by Doug Nelson, owner of Nelson’s Candy in Wilton, New Hampshire.
“Mike’s honey, combined with Doug’s artistry as a candy maker, produces the finest sucker you will ever place in your mouth,” Douillette added.
"City Feed has always been a sucker for this kind of product," said David Warner, owner of City Feed and Supply. "Local entrepreneur, local ingredients, it's what we're looking for," Warner added.
The lollipops will be available at local businesses, as well as on the website JPSUCKS.com, along with T-shirts, stickers and a comic strip which chronicles the life of JP. Local artist Nick Z created the logo, designs the t-shirts and draws the comic strip.
“JP is our sometimes pathetic teen hero,” explains Douillette, “One bad date and his life changes for ever. It’s a timely story, all made sweeter while you are enjoying one of the delicious lollipops.”
New comic strips are released each month, with tweets filling in the story several times a week at www.twitter.com/jpsucks.
“JP is 21st century teen. He has a blog. He tweets. But, like teens of the past, he also just wants to be accepted,” jokes Douillette.
The honey lollipops will be handed out to trick-or-treaters at City Feed and Supply from 3:30 – 6:30 PM, an event offered in cooperation with the Jamaica Plain Business and Professional Association (JPBPA).
